A Conversation with Esha Sadr and Dr. Geovanny Vicente-Romero – IA&A at Hillyer 9 Hillyer Court, NW Washington , DC 20008
Hosted at IA&A at Hillyer in Washington, D.C., this engaging conversation brings together artist Esha Sadr and Dr. Geovanny Vicente-Romero for a thought-provoking dialogue on art, identity, and resilience.
Centered around Sadr’s exhibition Absence of Us, the event explores how everyday materials—such as used garments—can be transformed into powerful narratives of memory, belonging, and human experience. Participants are invited not only to listen, but to actively contribute to the artistic process, blurring the line between audience and creator.
This conversation offers a unique intersection of art, storytelling, and social reflection, highlighting how creative expression can serve as a bridge between personal histories and collective meaning.
IA&A at Hillyer: Our featured solo artist Esha Sadr will discuss her exhibition Absence of Us. The exhibition is an interdisciplinary, long-term project that transforms used garments into narratives of memory, identity, and resilience. Sadr will be joined by Dr. Geovanny Vicente-Romero, a writer, political strategist, and international columnist for CNN. Participants are welcome to bring used garments which the artist will include in her installation as a performative act. Visit the current exhibitions page to learn more about the artist and read below to learn more about the moderator.
