Lipman Professor of Journalism,\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0June Cross,\u00a0<\/strong>Professor of Journalism and Director of the Documentary Journalism Program,\u00a0<\/strong>recently\u00a0won a 2021 Peabody Award for their collaboration on PBS\u2019\u00a0Frontline<\/em>\u00a0with \u201cWhose Vote Counts.\u201d<\/a>\u00a0The Columbia Journalism Investigations team, along with the USA Today Networks, were co-recipients.<\/p>\n Nabila El-Bassel<\/strong>, University Professor and the Willma and Albert Musher Professor of Social Work, has won the\u00a02021 Addiction Policy Forum Pillar of Excellence Award<\/a>.<\/p>\n Bette Gordon<\/strong>, Professor of Professional Practice, was honored at the Lumiere Film Festival in Lyon, France, with her name engraved on the Filmmakers Wall among such esteemed directors as Agnes Varda, Werner Herzog, and David Lynch.<\/p>\n Philip Kitcher,\u00a0<\/strong>John Dewey Professor Emeritus of Philosophy, and\u00a0Gayatri Spivak<\/strong>, University Professor, were\u00a0<\/strong>elected to the British Academy.<\/a><\/p>\n Jennifer Lee<\/strong>, the Julian Clarence Levi Professor of Social Sciences,\u00a0has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the Russell Sage Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n Shana L. Redmond,\u00a0<\/strong>Professor of English and Comparative Literature, received the\u00a02021 Walter and Lilian Lowenfels Award for Criticism<\/a>\u00a0as part of the American Book Awards by the Before Columbus Foundation for\u00a0Everything Man: The Form and Function of Paul Robeson<\/em>.<\/p>\n Amy Starecheski,\u00a0<\/strong>Oral History MA Program Director, began her term as President of the Oral History Association in October 2021. While in that role, she will be\u00a0serving as co-Principal Investigator on an $825,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant<\/a>\u00a0to provide fellowships and research grants to under- or unemployed oral historians from historically marginalized communities.<\/p>\n Mabel O. Wilson,<\/strong>\u00a0Nancy and George E. Rupp Professor of Architecture, Planning and Preservation,\u00a0received the Vincent Scully Prize on Oct.19<\/a>, from the National Building Museum.<\/p>\n Joel Brockner<\/strong>, Phillip Hettleman Professor of Business, recently\u00a0received the Distinguished Scholarly Contributions to Management<\/a>\u00a0from the Academy of Management.<\/p>\n Geovanny Vicente-Romero<\/strong>, Enterprise Risk Management Associate, was recently recognized for his column on CNN en Espa\u00f1ol\u00a0<\/em>as \u201cPolitical Column of The Year<\/a>\u201d by the Napolitan Victory Awards.<\/em><\/p>\n Kimberl\u00e9 Williams Crenshaw<\/strong>, Isidor and Seville Sulzbacher Professor of Law, received the\u00a0Triennial Award for Lifetime Service to Legal Education and the Profession<\/a>\u00a0from the Association of American Law Schools.<\/p>\n Maura Abbott<\/strong>, Assistant Professor and Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs, was awarded the State Award for Excellence by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners.<\/p>\n Ryan P. Abernathey<\/strong>,\u00a0Associate Professor at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,\u00a0received the\u00a0Charles S. Falkenberg Award\u00a0from the\u00a0American Geophysical Union.<\/a><\/p>\n Boris Altshuler\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Igor Aleiner,\u00a0<\/strong>Professors of Physics,\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>were awarded the\u00a02022 Lars Onsager Prize<\/a>\u00a0from the American Physical Society for their foundational work on many-body localization.<\/p>\n Ana Asenjo-Garcia<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of Physics, has been named a\u00a02021 Packard Fellow<\/a>. Kastens<\/strong>, Special Research Scientist at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,\u00a0was elected a Fellow by the American Geophysical Union<\/a>.<\/p>\n Peter B. Kelemen<\/strong>,\u00a0Arthur D. Storke Memorial Professor at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,\u00a0received the\u00a0Harry H. Hess Medal\u00a0from the\u00a0American Geophysical Union.<\/a><\/p>\n Chia-Ying Lee<\/strong>,\u00a0Lamont Assistant Research Professor, Ocean and Climate Physics Division at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,\u00a0received the\u00a0Natural Hazards Early\u00a0Career Award\u00a0from the\u00a0American Geophysical Union<\/a>.<\/p>\n Jerry F. McManus<\/strong>, Professor and Chair of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Geochemistry Division at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,\u00a0was elected a\u00a0Fellow\u00a0by the\u00a0American Geophysical Union.<\/a><\/p>\n Wei Min<\/strong>, Professor of Chemistry, recently\u00a0received the 2021\u00a0Scientific Achievement Award<\/em><\/a>\u00a0<\/em>from the Royal Microscopical Society.<\/p>\n Fatemeh Momen-Heravi<\/strong>, Associate Professor at the College of Dental Medicine and founder and director of the head and neck cancer research group at the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center,\u00a0received the AACR-Bayer Innovation and Discovery award<\/a>\u00a0to develop a new gene-editing delivery system for the treatment of cancer and rare diseases.<\/p>\n Gisela Winckler<\/strong>, Lamont Research Professor and Associate Director of the Geochemistry Division at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory,\u00a0was selected as a Seeding Diversity Fellow,\u00a0as part of an\u00a0NSF-funded project led by Prof. Jason Chen at the University of William and Mary<\/a>.<\/p>\n View more recent awards<\/em><\/a>\u00a0from the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n Rachel Cummings,<\/strong>\u00a0Assistant Professor of Engineering, recently received a DARPA Young Faculty Award titled “Guarding Against User Misperceptions of Differential Privacy” in the amount of $992,000 to support her work to make novel privacy technologies more understandable and usable.<\/p>\n Qiang Du<\/strong>, Fu Foundation Professor of Applied Mathematics, is part of a team of multidisciplinary researchers who have been\u00a0awarded a $1.2 million National Foundation for Science grant to improve traffic management in real time<\/a>.<\/p>\n Sanat Kumar<\/strong>, Bykhovsky Professor of Chemical Engineering, was\u00a0recently awarded the Polymer Physics Prize<\/a>\u00a0of the American Physical Society, the highest honor in polymer physics.<\/p>\n Carlos Paz-Soldan<\/strong>, Associate Professor, has\u00a0received two awards from the Department of Energy<\/a>. He was also named the recipient of the 2021\u00a0Thomas H.
